I painted this picture en plein air whilst sitting in a field across the river at Molesey in Surrey. It depicts St Mary’s Church in Lower Sunbury, built originally in the medieval period, to which its foundations date.
St Mary’s is an Anglican Church historically sited on the bank of the River Thames and represents over a thousand years of Christian worship. It is a well-known and much loved landmark which holds a special place in the hearts of many.
A place of worship, rejoicing, remembrance and of peace and consolation in these difficult Covid times.
