A trip to Bergerac in the Dordogne was an excuse to paint en plein air.
Tucked between the Loire Valley and the Pyrenees in Southwest France, the Dordogne has wooed visitors for centuries with its rolling vine-striped hills, honey-hued villages and turreted châteaux plucked straight from a fairy-tale.
Having packed some art materials in my luggage I took the opportunity to take time off to paint.
Yellow is my favourite colour so I was in my element with the acres of golden colour. Inspired by both the yellow fields and the poppies I spent many happy hours enjoying and relaxing whilst painting in the warmth and wonderful light of the summer sun.
